Changing the use of resources in a holistic manner

Hello, my name is Desiree Gabriel and my aim is to change the way the fashion industry uses resources. My focus is on the topic of material choice in combination with sustainable design strategies such as Design for Circularity and Design for Longevity and durability. As a change agent for sustainable material concepts in the fashion industry, I support fashion companies in finding sustainable materials that are suitable for their products due to their material properties.

In 2012 I completed my Bachelor’s degree at the Institute of Fashion Design in Basel, Switzerland. After experiences at Haider Ackermann and Capara in Antwerp, Belgium I founded the fairfashion label velvet novel in Lucerne, Switzerland in 2013. In early 2020 I completed my Master in Sustainability in Fashion and Creative Industries at AMD Berlin and since then I have been supporting fashion companies as a change agent for sustainable material concepts.
