Bonus: paper certifications – what they mean & what not

One important indicator for sustainability directed at consumers are paper certifications that can be seen on nearly all paper products. Their meaning is often not clear on the first look, so here is an overview of the most often used ones:

Research method

This research was conducted mainly on the internet: Google Scholar, Springer and the McKinsey archive were searched for fitting articles, then citations and sources in these articles were used for further reading. Cepi was discovered and extensively searched for further information. After a basic understanding of the factors at play was achieved, more in-depth literature was consulted in order to create this overview of the topic.
